Tony's Ten Timeless Tenets
of
Sound Money Management
 

1. Your personality/behavior is the most important influence on your money management.
2. Unless you have unlimited resources you must live on a budget.                                    (Corollary: “You get what you ‘plan’ for.”)
3. Ignoring basics (such as insurance and emergency funds) leaves your financial future to chance.
4. Financial turbulence is a certainty. Prepare for it in advance.
5. Your net worth is more important than your wage earnings (know your net worth at all times, especially “liquid” net worth).                 
6. Depreciable items such as automobiles are not investments therefore seek to minimize the depreciation.  
7. Avoid consumer debt (although there is “good debt” such as mortgages).     
8. Have short and long-term financial goals and review your goals regularly.
9. An asset (job or business) should be treated as your seeds to produce results. Cultivate and nurture the asset. The harvest (yields from the invested seeds or investment) is your reward.
